Wire Erosion / EDM services with over 40 years of expertise.
Tight tolerances, fast turnaround, and proven results for sectors including aerospace, medical, motorsport and electric vehicles.
For four decades, H V Wooding has been a trusted provider of Wire Erosion and Wire EDM services, delivering exceptional precision for complex components.
Our expertise enables us to achieve tolerances as fine as + / – 5 microns – around 20 times thinner than a human hair – making us a leading UK partner for highly intricate or delicate parts.
What is Wire EDM / Wire Erosion?
Wire Erosion, also known as Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), is a non-contact CNC machining process that uses a thin wire and electrical sparks to cut through conductive materials. Unlike traditional methods, it causes no mechanical stress and produces burr-free, ultra-precise cuts.
Key benefits of Wire EDM:
-
Delivers exceptional surface finishes without the need for secondary machining
-
Capable of cutting complex shapes, fine holes, and internal contours
- Ideal for small, delicate, or thin-walled components
-
No distortion or tool pressure – suitable for fragile or heat-sensitive parts
