Presswork & Tooling Services

We have over 55 years’ experience and expertise of providing economic presswork solutions and metal stamping to major names within the electrical switchgear, electronic, power generation, medical, marine and automotive industries, so you can rely on us to provide you with a prompt, efficient service.

Many customers find it beneficial to consult us at the start of their presswork manufacturing projects, enabling us to optimise tooling and production processes using advanced quality planning, PPAP, FMEA and other value chain management techniques.

We have the skills and resources to cope with short lead times, high volumes and can provide a full project management service if required.

Our dedicated press shops, covering over 13,000 sq ft, currently house 35 machines, including Bruderer, Seyi, Ching Fong presses with capacities of 5 to 200 tonnes.

Toolmaking

At HV Wooding, we have our own well-equipped in-house tool-making department. This facility, coupled with our team’s technical expertise, enables us to design and produce a wide range of different types of tools to extremely high standards and specifications.

Tool design can be carried out using advanced SolidWorks 3D CAD software. Tool manufacturing options include the use of our established partners in the UK or overseas.

    Science & Research - CERN

    A twin-aperture, 10 m long, prototype magnet was designed by CERN to gain experience in the construction of full scale twin-aperture Dipole Magnets. HV Wooding were given the task to produce the Twin-aperture Dipole magnet Laminations.     A Global manufacturer of “Hybrid Drivetrain” for Motorsport and Transportation applications. A key market for flywheel energy storage technology is the public transport sector. This technology can save fuel and reduce green house gas emissions by up to 30% in a city bus for example.

    Ventilator Challenge UK

    British engineering firms were called on to switch to making medical ventilators as concern grew about the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.  This follows an appeal by Boris Johnson, who held an emergency conference appealing for an urgent effort to address the national shortage.

    To assist the constantly evolving challenges that face our highly experienced quality team at H V Wooding, we have recently invested in the super accurate Trimos height gauge and the Vision inspection system ‘InspecVision Planer’ for fast and accurate measurement of multiple parts.

    High speed Bruderer press investment delivers major reshoring contract

    Investment in a refurbished precision high-speed press is helping H V Wooding deliver a significant aerospace contract that has been re-shored from Spain. We have invested over £120,000 into new tooling and the installation of a Bruderer BSTA 25H to produce more than 28 million precision parts every year.
