Job Title:                                              Press Setter

Reporting to:                                      Press shop Team Leader

The Production Department is focussed on the scheduling and efficient manufacture and on time delivery of products to meet both internal and external customer needs. The department is consistently striving to work to best practice and lean manufacturing methodologies.

Job Purpose

The Press Setter is responsible for ensuring that all presses and other equipment are set in a safe and reliable way as detailed in the Health & Safety regulations, whilst maintaining optimum production levels. The Setter will be working to schedules ensuring that operators and other resources are being used in the most efficient manner to meet the required targets in order to satisfy customer demands. To monitor new starters and trainees to ensure they are carrying out their duties in the correct manner and settling into their new roles.

Job competencies, Key Skill and Experience

  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Press guard trained
  • The ability to use specialised measuring equipment
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of power presses
  • A good understanding of how to set power presses
  • Be able to ensure the serviceability and safety of all equipment and machines used by staff within the section and report any defects to the maintenance team
  • To ensure that you are working to the correct methods
  • It is your legal duty to ensure all power presses are guarded correctly and safely in accordance with health & safety legislation
  • It is imperative that you ensure guard inspections and certificates are signed within the 2 hour start time from 08:00 and before production thereafter.

Key accountabilities

  • To maintain a steady flow of work within the department
  • To take an active part in optimising the use of labour for individual jobs
  • Report on individual jobs as required
  • Be responsible for quality control in your section
  • Is responsible for the quality and control of work in his / her section
  • Ensure that all operators are working to the correct methods in a safe way
  • Ensure that all operators complete paperwork in the correct way and a legible manner
  • To monitor new starters and trainees to ensure they are carrying out their duties in the correct manner and settling into their new roles. To ensure that all health & safety guidelines and procedures are followed at all times
  • To be responsible for the cleanliness and housekeeping in your area ensuring that the site is fit for visitors at all times
  • Attend daily tier meetings
  • To carry out other duties that fall within the general scope of the post which may be required from time to time

Job Title:                                              Tool Maker

Reporting to:                                     Tool Room Team leader

The Tool room is focussed on the scheduling and efficient manufacture and on time delivery of products to meet both internal and external customer needs. The department is consistently striving to work to best practice and lean manufacturing methodologies.

Job Purpose

The Tool Maker is responsible for the repair and modification of tooling. The Tool Maker needs to ensure that all work carried out is of good quality and meets the needs of both design and production in its functionality. The Tool Maker will also be required to assist in the continuous improvement of tooling by means of experience and knowledge gained from the history of past problems and tool repairs. The Tool Maker must ensure that all work schedules and work completed are done in order to satisfy customer demands whilst enabling the delivery of high quality components.

Job competencies, Key Skills and Experience

  • To repair, manufacture and modify tooling, jigs and fixtures
  • The tooling must meet the needs of both design and production in its functionality
  • To assist in the continuous improvement of tooling
  • The use of various machine tools
  • The regular use of lifting equipment
  • Attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Problem solving ability
  • A flexible approach

Key accountabilities

  • Manufacture of new tooling
  • To carry out tool repairs as required
  • To modify tool repairs in accordance with design and customer requirements
  • To assist in continuous improvement  ideas for making tooling more reliable
  • To ensure serviceability and safety of all equipment and machines used within the section
  • Assist in the training of apprentices and trainees as required
  • To ensure that you are working to the correct methods
  • To control the quality of your work
  • Is responsible for the quality and control of work in his / her section
  • To be responsible for the health & safety in the area
  • Make necessary decisions to achieve the required results within agreed timescales, policies and procedures
  • To be responsible for the cleanliness of your work area
  • To display good housekeeping
  • To attend daily tier meetings
  • To carry out other duties that fall within the general scope of the post which may be required from time to time

Job Purpose

The CNC Forming Operator is responsible for producing components whilst ensuring maximum targets are met in terms of output. The operator must also ensure that all work schedules are carried out in order to satisfy customer demands whilst delivering high quality components.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • The ability to use specialised measuring equipment
  • A good working knowledge and understanding of the forming process and machines
  • A good understanding of how to programme and set the machines
  • Attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills
  • Problem solving ability

  • A flexible approach

Key accountabilities

  • To ensure that the work is fulfilled as per schedule
  • To address any tooling issues with the Team leader
  • To ensure that you are working to the correct methods
  • To ensure that production rates are kept to a satisfactory standard
  • To keep process sheets up to date
  • To add additional information within the operator notes to aid future runs of that job
  • To control the quality of your work
  • Is responsible for the quality and control of work in his / her section
  • To be responsible for the control of Health & Safety in the area
  • Make necessary decisions to achieve the required results within agreed timescales, policies and procedures
  • To be responsible for the cleanliness of your work area
  • To display good housekeeping in the area
  • Attend daily tier meetings
  • To carry out other duties that fall within the general scope of the post which may be required from time to time
