Engineering Estimator

We are currently looking to recruit an Estimator to prepare quotations in accordance with our current profit margin policy to ensure that all quotations are realistically priced according to client specifications, this will involve working to tight deadlines to meet customer expectations.

This role will require someone with excellent numerical and organisational skills together with a high level of commercial acumen and would suit someone with experience in tool making /manufacturing wishing to further their career within an established and successful company. You will need to have a good knowledge of IT based working and be proficient in Excel spreadsheets.

A background in presswork, tool making/ tool design, Laser Cutting, would be an advantage to your application. Possessing a technical qualification or mechanical apprenticeship would be beneficial, as would experience of the estimating process for mechanical components.

General Operators

We require 2 General Operators, one to cover the Press Shop and the other to cover work in all departments at our South Site as required.
In the Press Shop you will be responsible for producing piece parts of good quality, whilst ensuring maximum targets are met. Working at South Site you will learn many of the manufacturing process and provide cover for those areas as and when required.

Previous experience of working in a factory environment is desirable although full training will be given.

The hours are Mon to Thurs 8am to 5pm and 8am to 1pm on Fridays
The Hourly rate meets the National Minimum Wage

Press Brake Operator

HV Wooding Ltd are manufacturers of metal components supplying Global companies across the UK and much of Mainland Europe. We are looking to recruit a Press Brake Operative for our rapidly expanding CNC department.

The main duties will include:

  • to ensure that all work is fulfilled as per schedule
  • to address any tooling or component issues with your Team Leader
  • to ensure that production rates are kept to a satisfactory level
  • to control the quality of your own work

For this position, you will need to be mathematically minded and be able to work within tight tolerances. The ability to read engineering drawings and use specialist measuring equipment is essential. This position requires attention to detail with a methodical approach. Excellent communication skills and flexibility are also important.
Initially you will be required to work the day shift 8/5 Monday to Thursday and 8/1 on Fridays moving onto a rotating shift of 6/2 and 2/10 once training has been completed.

Press Tool Maker

We are looking to recruit a toolmaker for our busy tool room to repair and modify tooling and to assist in the continuous improvement of tooling by means of experience and knowledge. Toolmaking in presswork with an apprenticeship would be preferred.

The ideal candidate should be able to work under their own initiative and have the ability to solve day to day tooling issues and be able to work to tight deadlines.

Knowledge of working in a similar environment is essential for this role as is being a good team player

The main duties will be:

  • Manufacturing jigs, fixtures, and new tools
  • Repair and planned preventative maintenance on existing tools
  • Carry out tool repairs to multistage progression tools and second operation tools and fixtures
  • Modify tooling to improve production
  • To assist in the continuous improvement ideas for making tooling more reliable
  • To assist in the training of apprentices and trainees as required

Knowledge and experience on process improvements within manufacturing is required incorporating lean work and 5’s on production lines.

Toolroom Machinist

HV Wooding Ltd are manufacturers of pressed and machined metal parts. We are looking to recruit a tool room Machinist for our busy engineering company based in Hythe, Kent. The machinist will be responsible for aiding in the repair and modification of tooling and the production of stacks.
The Machinist’s main duties will be:

  • To assist in the repair, manufacture and modification of tooling, jigs and fixtures
  • The tooling must meet the needs of both design and production in its functionality
  • The use of various machines to include mills, lathes and grinders
  • The production of stacks for the wire erosion department

Previous experience is essential in this role as is reading engineering drawings and the use of specialist measuring equipment. You will need to be organised with a good problem solving approach. Effective communication skills are essential.
The hours for this position will be Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and 8am to 1pm on Fridays
